Since there will some time before we actually hit the mat, let's have a little fun. With the new realignment this will need lots of help and corrections. We need everyone's input to keep this updated as much as possible. If anyone would like to take over at any time please do so...I will keep this first post updated as much as possible with everyone's input. Let's get started with last years champs/placers..(Seniors were removed and weights will change of course)

I have seen a majority of these kids and they will definitely be moving up. I believe the Villascusas live in Iowa now and Zander Phaturos moved to PA.

Correct on both assessments, and Villaescusa is not at 160's thinking more like 182's. but if we have a season in time we'll know how everything will line up at each weight class.

Hi all, not sure which weight he'll be (somewhere between 138 and 152, I think), but Isaias Jimenez is wrestling for Basha this year and he's an amazing talent. I've watched him wrestle since he was younger and he's phenomenal. He was at Valiant last year, I think. He's placed in Fargo and multiple high profile tournaments....just my two cents.

1 Fernando Villascusa of Sunnyside 11 Moved To IOWA

4 Gunnar Luke of Mesa Mountain View 11 - is not 132's anymore he's wrestled at 170's Preseason Nationals and 184's at Vision quest.

Try rankwrestlers.com

they're linked to track wrestling, and have an unbiased analasys of the records/head-to-heads/previous state placing, etc. $25/year. pretty cheap for a lot of data.

I had no intentions of doing rankings this year, between general disinterest due to the nature of the season, limited data from so few matches, ridiculous amounts of spam posts in this forum, etc. But looking at the rankwrestlers rankings and all the kids listed in wrong weights, kids who haven't wrestled single match, and kids who have already graduated, I guess I just can't help myself. I'm only going to rank people who have had notable success in the past or notable wins this year.

106
Damien Moreno (Kofa)
Alexander Sweeney (Desert Ridge)

These are the only kids still in this weight from last year that I recognize. Usually this weight consists of up-and-coming freshman and I really don't follow the junior high scene much honestly.

113
James Armstrong (Sunnyside)
Peyton Anderson (Mesa Mtn View)
Colin Ugalde (Hamilton)
Logan Smith (Desert Vista)
Demarko Gomez (Cibola)
Isaiah Jimenez (Queen Creek)

Smith is returning champ from 106 but lost to Ugalde who lost to Anderson. Anderson and Smith wrestle tomorrow so that will be interesting. The wildcard here is Murabito from Liberty, who looks tough coming from California but really no clue how he will match up with the other guys here.

120
James Brown (Sunnyside)
Joseph Jarman (Mesa)
Michael Trujillo (Liberty)
Alexander Gutierrez (Perry)

126
Zach Espalin (Chandler)
Noah Kasprowicz (Boulder Creek)
Dante Oliverio (Horizon)
Roman Provenzano (Liberty)
Victor Lopez (Sunnyside)
Damen Miller (Desert Vista)
Gabriel Corrales (Desert Ridge)

Lots of good kids in this weight. Seems like the move for some of these guys would be to move up to 132, which looks pretty week, and considering that there is no real chance of winning the weight with Espalin here. But hey, what do I know.

132
Jonathon Rogers (Liberty)
John Jarman (Mesa)
Caden Cole (Boulder Creek)

Like I mentioned below, pretty weak weight which is strange for such a usually strong weight.

138
Carson Coy (Liberty)
Mourece Ramirez (Desert Vista)
Cesar Avelar (Brophy)

145
Jaime Rivera (Sunnyside)
Juan Sierra (Cibola)
Domenic Hurtado (Desert Vista)

152
Tyler Sauter (Liberty)
Kalvin Boggs (Queen Creek)
Victor Chavez (Cibola)
Jerry Rudiak (Desert Vista)
Edward Reyes (Valley Vista)

Yes, I know Reyes pinned Sauter, at least according to Track. But I can't find any information on him at all other than that, and I'm not putting ahead of a returning champ based on one match that could easily be fluky. Maybe he's a superstar freshman, I don't know, but those are my thoughts on that.

160
Sebastian Robles (Sunnyside)
Jonah Muhammad (Hamilton)
Dalton Loyden (Chandler)
Jeordon Mellor (Cibola)
Caleb Pool (Tucson)

170
Nicholas Steele (Cibola)
Rene Fragoso (Sunnyside)
Marcus Murabito (Liberty)
Gunnar Luke (Mesa Mtn View)
Caleb Milnes (Perry)
Joseph Kisting (Desert Ridge)

Probably the deepest weight outside of 126 with 5 returning placers and Murabito who has already pinned Milnes and walked through everyone else.

182
Alex Sanchez (Skyline)
Hershal Hall (Perry)
Jarrett Huber (Mesa Mtn View)
Drew Nicolson (Corona)

Yikes, this weight is....not the strongest. Sweetman wrestled here early in the year but has been doing well at 195, and have heard he may stay there.

195
William Durbin (Dobson)
Elijah Sobas (Hamilton)
David Sweetman (Brophy)
Gavin Dodge (Liberty)

220
Nathaniel Deasey (Chandler)
Brayden Kobylinski (Desert Ridge)
James Huber (Mesa Mtn View)
Cameron Mason (Mountain Ridge)

HWT
Jacob Moore (Boulder Creek)
Liam Hoffmeyer (Cibola)
Jonathan Lozano (Hamilton)
Nathaniel Meza (Desert Ridge)

Zachary Kondravy from Maricopa (182) beat Sean Hardy (182) a top wrestler in Division 2. Looks like he can make a push for top 5.
