    RUMORS

That's basically it. But because they aren't an AIA member or affiliate member they can't go to any big tournaments even out of state. But that has to do with the NFHS rules.

    RUMORS

Some schools seek out transfers. Some don't. It's sad how often we see that now. Some kids who are good should go local and lift up their neighborhood school. I like seeing the schools that don't win a lot have 1-2 guys doing well and lifting up the other guys in the room.

    RUMORS

The AIA is more concerned about having high participation in sports. I can see their point of view when a school that's centered on a single sport is competing with them and offering scholarships. If Valiant were allowed then lots of kids might leave and weaken wrestling here during the high...

    RUMORS

Basically it comes from a lot of factors. The AIA knows the purpose Valiant was created for and wants no part of it. There are several "prep" schools around here that were created for basketball which the AIA basically told several years ago that they couldn't play against AIA in regular season...

    2020 - 2022 Wrestling - Boys Alignments (DIVISIONS 3-4)

ND has had trouble filling the lineup for years and only recently have had some coaching stability. They didn't even practice on campus until a few years ago. The head coach now was an assistant coach under the previous head coach, so that's 4 or so years of the same coach around. They're...

    Realignment?

Here's what I would have gone with. Mesa Mesa Mountain View Skyline Red Mountain Westwood Dobson North Alhambra Chavez South Mountain Highland Desert Ridge Liberty Independence Mountain Ridge Brophy SDO Shadow Ridge Sunnyslope Pinnacle Chaparral Valley Vista Horizon Boulder Creek Tolleson...

    Realignment?

I understand why they created some of these sections, but honestly it just takes away from some of the tradition of high school athletics. The Mesa schools are all kind of separated, so now they don't have any kind of bragging rights in the district since they are all in different sections now...

    Realignment?

Respect for having a program in a place like Yuma. So many other non school problems that get in the way of school and sports. It's why the guys at Chavez do a great job, the guy at Alhambra is trying to build and other schools in similar situations. It's hard to coach at those kinds of...

    Realignment?

That's weird their AD or whoever their rep was would want to drive 5+ hours instead of 2-3. I get that we're about wrestling and everything, but what about loss of class time just to go wrestle some duals on a Wednesday? I get that people travel for tournaments, Page has theirs and they go to...

    Realignment?

Yeah but there are schools nearby to wrestle. There's nobody near Page, the nearest school to compete against is at least 2 hours away. You have Cibola, San Luis, YC, Kofa, plus CA schools that are close, and also smaller schools like Antelope and Parker. Putting Page in a region with a bunch...

    Realignment?

The sections are a mess. They have Page grouped with a bunch of valley schools? I get they're trying for a competitive balance, but nobody is gonna drive 4-5 hours for a few duals. They should just got straight to using geography to sort this out. I'm glad they put 48 schools in DI, but they...

    Staying in Shape

We're running a lot of sprints uphill at A Mountain. Short, long, and then frog hops and duck walks.

    Realignment?

Sometimes that happens anyway though. If the PUHSD schools were grouped together obviously Chavez would be the kind of that hill for a while, but other schools like Fairfax or South Mountain would have that to aspire towards and not get chewed up by another top squad and make it a two horse...

    Realignment?

That actually sounds pretty decent, except I don't agree with the sections realignment really. Like there's no way they'll keep Cibola and Liberty together, but I think that's good because it gives other schools a chance at getting some kids through to state. At the end of the day there's...

    Realignment?

There's always going to be imbalances no matter what. I actually like the sections/regions as is, even though they'll change with schools moving up/down. The reason is because it gives other regions/sections that might not be as strong a chance to build up. If you separated the top 4 teams in...

    AZ State Tournament--forfeits

I was wondering this too. It seems like an unusually high number.

    Realignment?

It just seems kind of dumb the way they do it. If they stick to the 4 divisions thing then the math works out pretty well. There's 205 schools with wrestling. So just divide them evenly and make your sectionals from there. It isn't like we're asking the AIA to perform brain surgery here...

    Realignment?

Anyone know why the AIA hasn't released the new conferences yet? Football was a bigger issue and they released that without problem. I'm curious to see where some schools fall during this next bloc.
