How in the heck did they come up with that? There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. Is it based on numbers, location, or ability? If you are letting big schools like Yuma drop down, why would Prescott move down and Bradshaw Mtn. move up? Who cares, I am sure it will change again in another year or 2.

It is certainly not location. Sunnyside does not have another Tucson area school in it's section. They also put Tucson High in another section. At least in D1 it seems as if they tried to make the Sections a little more even. For a number of years you had two D1 sections that were far tougher then the other two. The two weak sections would be sending guys to state that really had no business being there.

On another note, being relatively new to Arizona, I find it odd that they change the divisions of schools so frequently.

Looks like they went straight on population for the divisions. Brandshaw Mtn (1683) is bigger than Prescott (1541), Which are both bigger than Yuma (1146).

No idea how D1 sections were created, but the rest look to have some sort of geography involved.

WOW! Well change is good right? D1 looks the most balanced that I have ever seen it. Not sure how I feel about the smaller schools being mixed the way they are. It's interesting who gets to move up & down.

For D1 my ranking guess going in (For next year) would be?
Sunnyside
Cibola
Mtn View
Corona
Chandler

Who would be the favorites in D2, D3 & D4?
D2 Ironwood Ridge, Liberty, Williams Field, Tempe, Des Edge maybe??

D3 favorites would have to be Safford and Seton Catholic. I would imagine all of Seton's stud are staying put for their senior year. I am surprised at how many schools changed in enrollment. It does look like the sections are a little more balanced though.

Safford was / is always tough. With sophomore D. Andrews leading the pack... they are always scrappy and solid throughout the lineup. Seton's weakness = not enough depth / roster. Individually they do really well but the teams that score the most points are going to make it tough.
Thunderbird was also solid this year. I love their old school work ethic!
