New Breed Wrestling takes on Freakshow

New Breed Wrestling from Camp Verde traveled to Las Vegas to enter one of the biggest tournaments in the nation “FREAKSHOW”. 37 states were represented and the tournament sold out with 2347 wrestlers competing for the gold medal status. Several referees complimented all Arizona wrestlers because of the good sportsmanship they demonstrated.

Brody Townsend at 61 pounds took 2nd place. Brody lost his first round by one point to the eventual champion. He spent the rest of the day wrestling back up the bracket and defeated everyone in his path. He was given the right to challenge the kid he never saw that took second place and defeated him as well, thus earning the “TRUE SECOND” title. It was nothing short of awesome and demonstrated his true character of having the heart of a champion. His goal now is to get ready for the regular season and represent Camp Verde Middle School.

Conrad Noone proved he belongs at the national level of competition. He placed third having only lost by one point to the runner-up. Conrad made a mistake that cost him the match. However he has learned from his loss and is now ready for the regular season. His goal is to once again take state this year. The knowledge he has attained over the off-season gives him the edge he will need to succeed. Conrad’s length and strength, provides him so many unorthodox wrestling opportunities. Many love watching him get out of situations most cannot even imagine.

Korben Uhler placed fourth in his division. Competing against those bigger, stronger and older opponents during the off-season is paying off in huge dividends. He is eager to start his Freshman career and looks forward to many exciting moments throughout the year competing on the same team as his older brother. His strength Coach Zavalza, has been nurturing him to prepare him for this season against Juniors and Seniors in his weight class. We expect great things from Korben this year as he represents Camp Verde High School.
