GET 8-12 MATCHES BEFORE LUNCH FOR FREE!

All wrestlers are required to submit a parent-signed release waiver in order to participate. Form is attached.

This is the place for quality mat time during the off season. The tournament attracts many serious contenders from throughout Arizona. Anybody that’s a serious wrestler, practices and participates in Summer competition, as preparation for the Winter season. Each wrestler who attends is given the opportunity to wrestle up to ten matches. This is a big draw for teams statewide, who face the same dilemma, which is the lack of wrestling competition. Ten simultaneous high school matches and ten Middle school matches of nonstop grappling takes place every three minutes and by the end of the day there is an abundance of mat burns, a few bloody noses, but a wealth of wrestling experience for each athlete that makes the trip to Mingus High School’s (Weekend Wars). Singlet’s and head gear are optional. Three one minute periods of Folkstyle.

We had a great start, with 100 visitors from Boulder Creek, Bradshaw Mountain, Predator, Camp Verde, Aztec Warriors Club, Corona Del Sol, American Heritage Academy, Yuma, Phoenix, Arizona College Prep, Peoria, Chagolla Trained, Liberty, Cenntennial, Prescott, Yotes Club, Cornville, Pine, Chandler, Grindhouse and Humboldt. It was a great turnout with quality matches. Everyone averaged between 13 and 19 matches.

It should be every wrestler’s goal to attain at least 100 matches in the off-season, if they wish to be competitive in the regular season. Many coaches were grateful and expressed their content about their kids getting ten plus matches and yet leave early enough to get home and spend the rest of their day with friends and family. We always finish before noon which attracts many wrestlers and their coaches.

Just a reminder that Weekend Wars is on for this Saturday. Come on up and join in on the fun. Everything is free. A lot of kids 40 pounds and up have committed to come. It would be a great day to have for them to have fun. Thank you to all the high schoolers that have been coming. Looks like another batch of high schoolers have committed to come as well.

Absolutely Awesome! This Saturday was action packed, producing some titanic opportunities in matchups. With no separation of division classes, there were many marquee wrestling bouts between champions from throughout Arizona clubs. They all brought with them different styles of technique which made everyone improve. All the guys showed high class with good sportsmanship, great respect and proper attitude while demonstrating a brotherhood type behavior throughout the day. We had so many little kids that we had to open up the gym next door to accommodate the days activities.

Once again we had a great turnout, with wrestlers from Boulder Creek, Bradshaw Mountain, Camp Verde, Payson, San Tan Foothills, Clarkdale, Northwest Christian, Dewey, Grapplers, Painted Desert Oasis, American Heritage Academy, Holbrook, Peoria’s Sunrise Mountain, Phoenix, Chagolla Trained, Mayor, Peoria’s Cenntennial, Prescott Valley, Chino Middle School, Mingus, Cornville, Flagstaff, Bagdad, Grindhouse and Humboldt. It was a great turnout with quality matches. Most everyone averaged between 15 and 20 matches. Finished before noon so many went out to enjoy the scenery, fishing or enjoy lunch as a team. A shout out to all my brother coaches for their support, especially Grind House Coach LC.

Due to the high volume of requests, we have extended Weekend Wars to include May 20th, June 3rd, and June 17. If the attendance continues to be great we will extend Weekend Wars through another month and so on.
