Arent the Groves brothers at Chandler? At least, thats what I heard. I would suspect they would be 160 and 170 maybe?

This is just a list of the returning DI Placers and Qualifiers. They are not actually rankings. Those will be done at some point after the season has started and we know what schools they are at and what weight they are wrestling. If the Groves brothers are in fact at Chandler I will be interested to see how they do wrestling DI competition on a consistent basis and wresting in some bigger tournaments.

Got it. I'm with you bayou. I'd like to see them compete at the DI level and see how they hang. It'll be good to watch

That is a BIG move for the twins. In my opinion they are bound to run into more serious comp then they would have in D-2

Hats off to them for moving into D1.

Anyone know what weights they are considering?

D-2 is just as tough as D-1, no drop off in my opinion. I am assuming Gator will go 152 and Marco will go 170.

Top 5
1. Sunnyside (All-Star line up from 106-145) will depend on their 152-heavyweight if they win title)
2. Cibola (will be in reach of sunnyside, very good lineup)
3. Corona (J. Garcia's leadership and young guns ready to shine)
4. Chandler (Will the Groves leadership get Chandler back on top)
5. Mesa Mt. View (Young and ready to roll!)
5. Tucson (Dark horse! will surprise teams)

Okay..
team wise "some" D2 - teams might be able to hang with "some" D-1 teams

One of, if not both of the twins will end up with All American / National Champion caliber competition (in their prospective weight class) wrestling D-1 this year.

Staying D-2, I don't see the same comp level for them.

On another note..
Tucson? Dark horse?
Doubtful in my opinion. Definite top 5-10 team wise, that's about it.

Either your not a Deberry fan or your not seeing the improvements Coach Deberry has done for the program since he took over. As far as Groves boys going to D-1, they had good compeition in D-2, Gator had a 4-2 win over Morris from Ironwood, Marco had a convincing win 12-6 over Proper from Marana (Marco has not been tested the last 3 years in AZ) If Marco and Gandara meet up that would be a GREAT matchup. I am not sure if you know D-2 has a some All American / National Champion Caliber competition. To name a few.

Josh Herrera
Xavier Rico
Mark Prado
Javier Ortiz
Jacob Frias
Andrew Cota
Marcus Castillo
Altilano Escobar
Denen Fernandez
Jimmy Dietz
Josh Vigh
Anthony Saba
Miles Nuessle

I am not saying D-2 is better than D-1 but I will put Queen Creek, Liberty and Marana Mountain View against D-1's top 3 anyday!

He is back in Tucson. Not sure if he is wrestling. If he is, not sure what weight.

Dang I totally agree with you on this list. I would also add Desert Vista & Desert Ridge with Mtn View & Tucson.

I think the Groves boys will adjust fine to D1 they have wrestled all these kids growing up. On the other board it says Mordecai is back registered at SS. Are you kidding me? That is a surprise after they threw his dad under the bus.

East Valley, I had heard rumors for months. Still surprising. Glad to have another big kid in the SS room.
